Trade-Ins & Consignments FAQ
As you may have noticed, we sell a lot of used instruments - these come to us via one of two ways, either as a trade-in towards other gear - or via consignment. Here's basically everything you need to know about either process, but if you have any unanswered questions, please reach out via our contact form.
Consignment
We are generally happy to sell most instruments or instrument paraphernalia (e.g amplifiers and effects pedals) on your behalf. There are certain instances where we may refuse to do so, if we don't believe that we are best suited to sell whatever it is you have, but this would be rare.
Our consignment fee is 22%, which covers a lot of our operating costs incurred with selling your goods, including time spent preparing for the sale (e.g photography/cleaning), staff costs, our ongoing advertising spend on our pre-owned section & payment processing costs (e.g customers will be able to use finance options to purchase your item, which comes at a steep cost to us via fees)
The sale price is ultimately up to you, but we are usually happy to provide suggestions based on our quickly you would like whatever it is to sell.
Once your item is sold, we allow for a two week cooling off period before the sale is declared final and you are paid out.
Trade-Ins
Trading in gear towards other items we have for sale is accepted under certain conditions.
- It is at our sole discretion whether or not we trade something in, and this is most often based on our confidence at being able to resell whatever it is. We generally ask that you email us with high quality photos of what you hope to trade in, and let us know what it is you're intending to trade towards.
- Trade values are dependant on a number of factors, but we would ultimately advise that you keep in mind that whatever you've seen similar items selling for is usually what we would need to re-sell it for, and therefore the value we can give you will always be lower.
- Please also keep in mind that trade-ins may not be accepted on heavily marked down clearance stock, or if we do accept it, the value we can give you for your gear will be negatively affected by this.
- Trade-ins cannot be accepted against any consignment stock, so certain pre-owned items we have will not be available if intending to do so.
Lastly, WE DO NOT BUY ANY PRE-OWNED GOODS OUTRIGHT. To do so would require a license, which we do not have - and generally only places like Cash Converters will be able to do this.
